Important Events:
After spending some time to recuperate from the recent battle with the goblins and ogre, the party must now decide which direction to go - through an unfamiliar cave or an uncertain path. Bruzor inspects the cave he had originally approached prior to being attacked by goblins. He finds a clear path leading to the other side. There is a dark path within the cave to the right, but exploring additional unknowns in darkness is not on the agenda. Bruzor relays his findings to the party, primarily Thistle as he is the guide. Thistle, still not sure which is best, decides to lead the party through the cave.
As the party exits the cave, they come to a deep ravine and another set of mountains across the way. The rope bridge is cut, whether by poor construction and age or blade is unclear. Needing to get across, Octavian and Bruzor come to an agreement on a plan: Octavian will cast a spell on Bruzor that will allow him to levitate, Bruzor will carry Drake and Thistle as Octavian flies and controls Bruzor's movements. The party makes it across safely. Bruzor, Thistle, and Drake are quite happy to once again be back on the ground.
Thistle leads the group through another cave. The darkness being a problem for seeing, Octavian casts light on Thistle's torch. Thistle tucks it into his belt mightily impressed by the magic and encouraged that he can draw his sword and shield unencumbered. As the party continues through the cave, they notice an old rail system and realize they are in a very old and abandoned mine. They pass several boarded paths along the sides of the mine. A low, but very audible rumble is heard and everyone stops in their tracks. What sounded like the mountain moaning was determined to not be earth or mountain made. The party presses on more swiftly.
Thistle panics briefly as the light on the torch goes out until Octavian recasts light on it. Upon regaining wits, the mountain physically begins to rumble and the rocky floor shifts. Unable to escape, the party is swallowed up and falls down through debris and rock. The only visible light is that of Thistle's torch. The party splashes hard into an underground river whose strong current sucks them deeper and further through twists and turns. After a couple minutes, the river dumps the party into a very large and thick spider web above a small pool of water.
The group frantically cuts their way out of the webs, dropping into the pool of water, which appears to be draining. They move in the only direction they can, through another section of an abandoned mine. A deep bellow echoes all around them and ahead of them they see a slimy substance growing larger, coming out of a large crack in the wall. The ooze gathers itself into a huge slug-like creature. The party quickens their pace hoping to find an exit and escape the delver that now chases them.
The group encounters large spiders along the way, slowing them down. They defeat each one and press on until they reach a large cavern guarded by 6 long-bearded dwarves with gray skin and black eyes. These zombie looking dwarves are not thrilled to see the group. Blocking the only possible exit, a large hole at the end of the cavern, the party begins the assault. Unfortunately, the duergar are not the only foe as another large spider joins the battle from above. Octavian casts a spell on Bruzor who grows to a huge size. Bruzor swings and hits the spider out of the air sending it to the ground hard. The rest of the party continues to engage the duergar.
While the battle rages on, the delver creeps closer. Many of the duergar have fallen, but not enough for easy passage. In an attempt to give the party time to escape, Bruzor, being even more massive than normal, takes a desperate swing at the delver. In his haste he misses. The delver, on the other hand, does not. The creature nearly kills Bruzor in one hit. Unconscious and unable to defend himself, Bruzor lays helpless at the mercy of the delver.
Drake disengages from his battle with a duergar and comes to Bruzor's aid. He revives him just enough for Bruzor to have the strength to burrow Drake to safety. Before doing so, the delver had turned its attention to Drake. As the party reaches the hole, they find a wooden ladder and begin climbing down. The group moves quickly through the tunnel knowing the delver is following.
They come to a very large cavern with 12 different tunnels. Drake points to the 5th from the left and the party moves without question. Upon entering a chasm with a 100ft ceiling and 80ft wide center. However, there is no visible bridge across, and standing on the other side are 15 Drow (13 male warriors and 2 females in robes). Two of the males begin turning a wheel and a platform-bridge begins to lower. A female drow orders the party to drop their weapons and surrender. Taking an interest in him, another male sends over manacles and instructs Drake to cuff and gag Octavian, along with cuffing Thistle, Bruzor, and himself. Realizing their options were limited to Drow or delver, the party complies. Even with Bruzor back to normal size, the manacles would not fit. The drow tie him up instead.
Upon reaching the drow on the other side and being taken into custody, the drow lift the platform back up just as the delver reaches the chasm. One female says, "You have escaped the delver. What will we do with them?" The other female responds, "Bring them back. We'll deal with them later."
