During Lyra's watch, a gnome named Cornelius approached the group while they were resting aboard the Legacy. The gnome was accompanied by two zombie servants. They seemed to be placated by the magic cast by Cornelius. The gnome explained that he was on his way to help a large group of undead but did not know where to find them. Monty questioned him a bit and we learned that he was indeed looking for the undead surrounding Maladavia.
Cornelius seemed well-intentioned to Monty and Lyra, and much to Aedwynne's dismay, made a deal with the gnome. In exchange for his help in moving the boat to water, we would occasionally stop to visit the old gnome to give him some company and share stories and tea with him. Once all was agreed upon we informed Cornelius of the undead around Maladavia and he in turn advised us that the army of undead may indeed be protecting Maladavia if they are facing away. Which seemed very possible. We also came to the conclusion that the army most likely came from the empty catacombs beneath the city.
Aedwynne was very much opposed to accepting Cornelius' help, especially when he began to cast a necromancy spell. Luckily things cooled down and the gnome's zombies helped move the ship to water. While his minions worked, the gnome told us that he knew the location of the Holy Avenger, or rather the real weapon which was more akin to a spear of light. He bid us to return to his cabin at a later date and he would give us more information on it's whereabouts in the southern swamps.
Once the Legacy reached the water we made the decision to confirm Cornelius' information regarding the undead's purpose. We set sail to the west and intended to scout out the perimeter to see if the zombies were protecting the city. However as we dropped anchor we were attacked by a harpy in the night. Luckily a few well placed bow and crossbow shots killed the creature without any problem.
